The Hollowed

“We do not forget. We do not forgive. We do not feel.”
Winter Faction – Blizzard-Wrought Wraiths – Devourers of Warmth

Origin & History: The Last Whispered Names

The Hollowed were not born. They were left behind.

Once nameless souls adrift in storms of grief, the Hollowed emerged during the first Winter of Unburial. They rose not as monsters, but as mourners — remnants of loss too deep for memory. Where the Frostborn sought containment and the Silvercourt sought order, the Hollowed offered only silence.

They drifted into the Frostbinding Oath not as allies, but as inevitabilities. Unclaimed, unwanted, and undefined, they became winter’s final voice: the hush after sorrow, the breath before forgetting.

Beliefs & Ideology: The Doctrine of Absence

• Warmth is a lie the living tell themselves.
• To be known is to be vulnerable.
• Names are chains. Let them rust.
• Erase. Unmake. Release.

The Hollowed believe that identity is the root of suffering. They do not seek power or revenge. They offer a different kind of peace — the stillness that follows when even memory lets go.

To them, silence is not weakness. It is freedom.

Notable Actions & Legacy

• The Veilstorm Pact – A storm that erased an entire army’s memory. Only the Hollowed recall it.
• The Hollow Requiem – A ritual where names are surrendered and written records vanish.
• The Silence Harvest – An act of mercy where sorrow is taken with a single breathless kiss.

Key Figures

• The Wane – A drifting figure cloaked in frostmist. Speaks only in gesture.
• The Last Echo – The only Hollowed who speaks. Her whispers sound like wind.
• The Chain of Names – A cursed string of spectral links worn by initiates.

Faction Relationships

With the Frostborn Conclave – An uneasy kinship. The Hollowed and the Conclave both value silence and endurance, though they disagree on what must be preserved.
With the Silvercourt – Tense. The Hollowed mourn while the Silvercourt stages beautiful remembrances. One grieves in frost. The other dresses memory in gold.

Cultural Aesthetic & Symbolism

• Visuals: Cloaks of drifting shadow and snow, glowing blue eyes, ice-scored chains, empty hoods
• Sounds: Silent footfalls, sighs through blizzard wind, soft bells that ring without movement
• Sacred Item: The Empty Hourglass – a relic whose sand runs backward when unobserved
• Sacred Beast: The Snowblind Owl – a white-feathered, eyeless bird that perches silently on those ready to forget

Role at The Arcane Rune

• Role: Balancers of memory, whisperers of forgetting
• Public Disguise: Servers who never speak, guests who vanish mid-sentence, strangers without footprints
• Secret Sanctums: The Room With No Reflection, The Blizzard Gallery, and The Sighing Crypt, which appears only during full snow

Whispers of the Others

From the Hollowed’s quiet recollections — blurred, partial, or deeply understood.

The Frostborn Conclave
Knowledge Meter: ████░░░░░░░ (4/10)
"We have stood beside them in silence, though we do not stand for the same things. They preserve what we let go. They seal spells away and call it wisdom. We erase grief and call it peace. In their rituals, we see mirrors — but fogged, not broken. Still, when the storms came and the others fled, they stayed. That counts for something."

The Silvercourt
Knowledge Meter: ███░░░░░░░ (3/10)
"They wrap sorrow in silk and call it remembrance. Every step they take leaves perfume, not footprints. We drift past their illusions, and they pretend not to shiver. We shared a gala once — or maybe we didn’t. One of theirs tried to speak our name. Their voice cracked like ice."

The Crimson Throne
Knowledge Meter: ██░░░░░░░░ (2/10)
"They strike to restore. We dissolve to release. They believe execution purifies; we believe forgetting frees. Their rituals echo down the halls of the Rune, but those echoes never find us. They fear becoming us — but won’t say it."

The Echo Court
Knowledge Meter: ██░░░░░░░░ (2/10)
"They record what should be left behind. Their scrolls are chains made of parchment. We offered them silence once. They tried to name it. They remember us as ghosts. That is incorrect — we are what comes after memory ends."

The Redshift
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"They bleed what we freeze. Their screams are noble, but their scars still name them."

The Verdant Bloom
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"Their roots cling to names we would let go. They speak to soil. We speak to silence."

The Court of Thorns
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"Their laughter echoes too long. Their petals hide blades. We drift through both."

The Seedkeepers
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"They hold too tightly. We would teach them to release — but they do not ask."

The Emberbrand Legion
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"They burn for meaning. We do not require fire to erase."

The Solstice Pact
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"They walk balance beams over silence. When they fall, we will catch no one."

The Wildflame Revelers
Knowledge Meter: █░░░░░░░░░ (1/10)
"They forget through laughter. We forget through frost. One fades faster — but both fade."
